Call for applications: three postdocs at the interface data science/social sciences
Within the framework of the national call for applications just launched by the CNRS Institute of Human and Social Sciences (InSHS) for three post-doctoral positions, the Centre d'Analyse et de Mathématique Sociales (CAMS, CNRS-EHESS) wishes to support applications and welcome laureates for projects in line with its themes.
Eligible themes cover health, digital humanities & computational social sciences and artificial intelligence in SHS.
The full call can be found on the InSHS website,
An English (unofficial) translation is attached to this mail.

The closing date for applications is 22 July 2018.

CAMS is particularly interested in projects concerning the analysis and modeling of large databases with artificial intelligence tools (machine learning), on topics related to SHS. For example, several projects currently being developed at CAMS provide access to substantial data:
Health: project with APHP on the management of severe polytrauma patients;
Neuroscience and cognition: sensory processing, brain imaging data (fMRI and EEG);
Urban dynamics: mobility, social dynamics (segregation), housing market...
Digital humanities projects could be developped in partnership with the Complex Systems Institute (Institut des systèmes complexes de Paris Ile de France, ISC-PIF).
Candidates may have diverse backgrounds, in mathematics, theoretical/physical statistical physics, or computer science, with good programming practice and preferably experience in big data analysis - and a strong interest in interdisciplinarity in general and the social sciences in particular.
In addition, it will be proposed to contribute to the implementation of Data Challenges for the valorisation of SHS data and the training of SHS students, in partnership with two PSL Masters courses.
